The house of de Gournay was founded in 1986 by Claud Cecil Gurney after he travelled to China in search of artisans capable of restoring antique wallpapers using traditional techniques. Today, de Gournay has become synonymous with luxury and is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious and influential design houses of our time. Its wallpapers are true works of art. From its origins in London, the brand has expanded internationally, with showrooms in cities such as Paris, Shanghai, Moscow and San Francisco.

A Love of Handcraft

De Gournay wallpapers are produced from traditional, largely natural materials, and each design is created by a team of six or more artists. The painting of a panoramic panel can require up to ninety hours of meticulous work. No two sets of wallpapers are identical; each is carefully adapted by the de Gournay atelier to the dimensions and requirements of the specific project. A wide range of patterns and colourways is available, and de Gournay also offers highly personalised services that allow virtually any design vision to become reality.
